Founders anticipated the trend from Big Law to a boutique environment

Ten years after Densborn Blachly LLP opened its doors, its founders’ original vision has held fast, that is to provide the highest level business law services to middle market and smaller companies without regalia.

“From day one, our aim was to provide practical legal advice and assistance to the business community without costly red tape or the accoutrements that adorn our peer firms,” says Dave Blachly, the firm’s managing partner since inception. “And, at a time when the practice of law is trending toward the transactional and the impersonal, we seek to retain the value of the relational.”

Blachly and Don Densborn, along with Jarod Brown, founded the firm on June 13, 2013, as a business law boutique operating from offices on the northside of Indianapolis. Brian Bouggy signed on while the firm was still located in temporary space. Eric Schmadeke, Jim Coles and Alexa Woods joined shortly thereafter. Before the first year was over — and annually since — the firm has been recognized as a “Best Law Firm” by U.S. News — Best Lawyers®.

Today, its service offerings have grown to include transactions involving commercial real estate, mergers and acquisitions, commercial and corporate finance, and intellectual property, as well as business and trust litigation services and general business advice and entity work.

“It has been 10 great years,” says Densborn. “But we do not take our success for granted. Sustainable excellence is a key focus. We ask ourselves every day, ‘What can we do better?’”
